Maxillofacial Trauma

We operate in three different locations including Swansea & Bridgend. Contact us for a consultation

Trauma to the face can involve soft tissue injuries such as lacerations or bruises and facial bone fractures including maxilla, mandible, nasal bones, zygomatic bones and frontal bone. Facial injuries have the potential to cause disfigurement and loss of function. Severe facial trauma can occasionally be life threatening due to the vascularity of the head and neck region and can compromise the airway. There is always a primary concern in acute trauma to protect the patient’s airway. Significant advances have been made in the definitive management of facial fractures. In most developed countries facial fractures are managed with an open reduction and internal fixation approach. Management of facial trauma forms a significant bulk of my work in the NHS.
